FAQs
-
Unlike most IFS trainings that teach the model primarily as a psychological and top-down approach, our Embodied IFS Coaching Training integrates the somatic and spiritual dimensions that we believe are essential to IFS at its fullest depth. Most traditional IFS trainings miss the significance of the body entirely; we take a body-first approach, using somatic awareness, breathwork, movement, and attuned touch to find, track, and work with parts through the body. We also explicitly honor the spiritual nature of Self, and the paradigm of Self as the inner healing agent is inherently spiritual, and we treat it as such throughout the entire training rather than setting it aside.
Beyond what makes us different from other IFS trainings, our approach to the coaching work itself goes deeper than foundational coaching skills and personal development. We place the Self at the center of all healing and transformation. Unlike approaches that focus on techniques like perspective shifting, goal setting, or accountability, IFS offers a unique, unifying framework (the Self) that is inherently capable of healing and integrating all parts of the system toward wholeness. The result is a holistic, embodied approach that supports both genuine personal transformation and profound professional development.
-
No prior IFS training is required. While it is ideal that you have some previous experience supporting others in a helping capacity — as a coach, therapist, healer, or space holder — this is not a requirement. The training is designed to meet you where you are and provide a full, comprehensive foundation in IFS coaching from the ground up.
We do require that anyone seeking the Certificate of Completion has experience doing their own IFS work 1-on-1 consistently over time (at least 3 months) with an IFS therapist or coach. If you haven't yet had this experience, we ask that you be actively engaged in your own IFS sessions during the training. We offer substantial discounts to enrolled trainees who wish to work with Rasika or Dayal, or we also encourage you to find an IFS therapist or coach through the IFS Institute directory.
We also ask that by the end of the training you have read at least one of the following: the Internal Family Systems textbook by Dr. Richard Schwartz, or the Somatic Internal Family Systems textbook by Susan McConnell.
-
Yes, as part of the 6-month training, each trainee has the opportunity to receive personal mentorship. You may submit two 1-hour recorded practice sessions (with client permission) and receive a 30-minute 1-1 mentoring session for each, offering individualized feedback directly from Rasika or Dayal to support your skills development and embodied presence.
-
We highly recommend attending no less than 75% of the live sessions to get the full benefit of the training. IFS is best understood through experience, and the interactive participation is vital to grasping the art and technique of this work. If you cannot meet this minimum, you are still welcome to participate but will not be eligible for a Certificate of Completion.
-
This training is intentionally intimate. Cohorts are typically 20-30 participants (capped at 36). This allows for the depth of personal connection between teachers and students as well as students to students. There is ample time and space for everyone to ask questions and share realization and reflections.
-
Upon successful completion, graduates receive the Conscious Earth Institute’s Somatic IFS Coaching Certificate. This is an independent professional training program with over 90 contact hours, including interactive learning, applied practice and mentorship.
Graduates may identify themselves as an IFS Coach or a Somatic IFS Coach trained by the Conscious Earth Institute.
This is an independent certificate program. It is not affiliated with the IFS Institute founded by Dr. Richard Schwartz, and does not offer CEUs (Continuing Education Units).
-
Yes, graduates are equipped to confidently and safely integrate IFS into their current professional practice or begin offering (Somatic) IFS coaching sessions within their ethical scope of practice. If you don't feel ready to work with others immediately, that's okay. The program builds progressively and you'll be supported to develop at your own pace. We encourage all graduates to continue deepening their practice through ongoing experiential learning and peer practice, offered through our Consultation Groups.
-
This training will meet you with depth. If you have already completed IFS Level 1 or further training through the IFS Institute, you'll find that our Embodied IFS Coaching Training significantly enriches and expands your existing foundation, bringing the somatic and spiritual dimensions that most IFS trainings leave largely unexplored.
Many of our trainees come with prior IFS experience and find that working with parts through a body-first lens and explicitly through the paradigm of Self as a spiritual essence opens an entirely new dimension of the work — both for themselves personally and in their client sessions.
You'll deepen your embodied access to Self-energy, develop fluency in the somatic dimension of parts, and learn to call in spiritual resources in ways that take your IFS practice to a new level of presence, attunement, and transformation.

The Conscious Earth Institute Embodied IFS Coaching Training is an independent certificate program. We are not affiliated with the IFS Institute founded by Dr. Richard Schwartz, or with Somatic IFS as developed by Susan McConnell.
This is a coaching and educational program and does not constitute psychotherapy, licensure training, or clinical supervision. This training provides a strong foundation to confidently lead IFS sessions in your professional practice. You will learn the full arc of the IFS protocol, including how to safely facilitate unburdening, while emphasizing the central role of Self-energy. Our aim is to help you become a highly skilled, Self-led Embodied IFS Coach within your scope of practice. Graduates are encouraged to work within their existing credentials and applicable local regulations.
“Internal Family Systems is one of the most effective tools for accessing our true nature while healing our wounded parts. It bridges the gap between psychological and spiritual work by helping us integrate all parts of ourselves into embodied presence.”
— Loch Kelly, IFS Practitioner and founder of Effortless Mindfulness Institute
